In June, 2010, Pat Duff move to Guatemala with a passion to serve the poor and disabled in this Central American country under the Josiah Foundation. Her plan was to volunteer with the children at Obras Sociales de Hermano Pedro, an institution for those with significant disabilties.
After meeting Fidel, a young man living at Hermano Pedro, plans changed drastically. Fidel desperately wanted to live a more normal life than he was able to in an institution. Thus began our residential ministry.
In June, 2017, Pat founded Reason to Hope, Inc., an approved 501 (c) (3) charitable organizationto provide future stability and sustainability for the growing ministy. As a non-profit, Reason to Hope is under the oversight of a Board of Directors who are committed to the vision of improving the lives of those with disabilities, now and for eternity. Our organization now operates two assisted living homes, Casa de Esperanza (men) and Hijas del Rey (women), housing 13 residents, and providing employment for 15 Guatemalan team members.
